Beer Darts Rules

Setup

Beer darts is a fun drinking game that can be played with a minimum of two players. If there are more than two players, break off into teams of two. The game is played sitting down in chairs, with players or teams facing each other, 10 feet (3 m) apart. For teams, teammates should sit next to each other, with their chairs about 3 feet (0.91 m) apart and facing the same direction.

Place a piece of cardboard in front of each chair to shield players' legs from the darts. For a two-person game, place an unopened beer can in front of each chair, by the players' feet. For a four-person game, place the beer can in the middle of the two team members.

Gameplay

Players take turns throwing darts at their opponents' beer cans. If a player punctures their opponent's beer can, their opponent must drink the beer down to the level of the puncture. If the puncture is at the very bottom, the opponent must drink the whole beer and get a new one. If a player hits the beer can but does not puncture it, they must take a sip from their own drink.

If a dart goes into the hole of an open beer can, the owner of that can must drink the whole thing and replace it. If a player hits their opponent with a dart, they must finish their own drink.

Any can that is hit three times must be consumed in full by the player in front of whom it is placed, then replaced and the game continued.

Winning

Players should decide how many points warrant a victory. This could be one or two points for a two-person game, or four or five for a four-person game. The first player or team to reach the agreed-upon number of points wins.
