Dock Street South is a 10,500-square-foot brewery, mess hall, restaurant, lounge, and coffee bar. It opened in August 2019 in a former brewery that had also served as a tile factory and taxi repair shop. The brewery offers tours, and the restaurant serves wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Dock Street South is available for private events of up to 200 people.

Dock Street Fishtown is a 1,000-square-foot taproom with eight freshly brewed beers on tap, four lines dedicated to draught wine and cider, and craft cocktails. The taproom, which opened in April 2023, offers Mediterranean small plates and takeaway beer in 16oz cans.

Dock Street's expansion and history

Dock Street Brewing Company was founded in 1985 by Rosemarie Certo and her husband Jeffrey Ware. It was one of the first post-prohibition craft breweries in the country and Philly's first all-grain brewpub.

Dock Street was created as a bottled beer operation based in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. In 1989, Certo and Ware opened a brewpub in the Logan Square neighborhood of Center City, Philadelphia. By 1996, the company was producing over 25,000 barrels of beer a year, distributing to 24 states, and was the 26th largest microbrewery in the U.S.

In 1998, Certo and Ware sold the company to Poor Henry's Brewery & Restaurant. However, Poor Henry's ceased operations in 2000, and Certo repurchased the brand and bottling operation in 2002. In 2007, the brewery reopened in the Cedar Park neighborhood in West Philadelphia.

In 2017, Dock Street expanded with the Dock Street Cannery + Lounge, a mixed-use space with a canning line, two fermenters, and a tasting bar. In August 2019, they opened Dock Street South, a 10,500 square foot production brewery and brewpub in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia. In April 2023, they opened a new location in the Fishtown neighborhood.

Dock Street has won numerous awards for its beers, including several International Gold Medals for its Amber Beer and Royal Bohemian Pilsner. The company has also been featured in various books and TV shows, such as Michael Jackson's 1988 book "New World Guide to Beer" and the U.S. television series "Thirtysomething."

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner during the week and also offers weekend brunch. Dock Street South also offers a kids' menu, high chairs, and colouring books, but please note that from 8 pm onwards, only guests aged 21 and above are allowed on the premises.

In addition to food and drinks, Dock Street also hosts various events and parties. Both locations are available for private events, such as weddings, birthdays, and office parties. Dock Street South can accommodate up to 200 people, while Dock Street Fishtown can host groups of 10 to 150 people. The brewery also hosts public events, such as comedy nights, prose readings, cheese-making, glass-blowing, and live tattooing.
