Stone Brewing Co. also pretended to sell helium beer
Sam Adams doesn't sell a helium-laced beer, despite rumours to the contrary. Stone Brewing Co. also pretended to sell helium beer, releasing the idea of a helium beer on the same day as Sam Adams, 1 April 2014. Stone's beer was called Stone Stochasticity Project Cr (He)am Ale with Helium, and was available in 16-ounce cans at retailers, restaurants and bars in select markets nationwide. It was a cream ale, double dry-hopped to add extra tropical, bitter goodness. The beer was the brainchild of Stone Quality Assurance Supervisor Rick Blankemeier, who came up with the idea after playing around with nitro beers. He presented the idea to Stone Brewmaster Mitch Steele, who at first assumed it couldn't be done.

Sam Adams claimed that their helium beer had a unique "mouthfeel" and that it aided the taste of the beer as one of the noble gases. Stone Brewing wasn't the only brewery pretending to make a helium beer. Tons of microbreweries have done the same thing in an attempt to get their brand on the map.
