The beer is described as having "sparkles, lemony wheat flavour, dry-hopped brightness, and a rainbow can that’ll command the spotlight in any room." It is an American Pale Wheat Beer with an IBU of 20 and uses Millennium, Hallertau, Cascade, Dry-Hop: Saaz & Saphir Malts: 2-Row, and White Wheat.

A portion of all proceeds from the beer will be donated to TransTech, a charity created by former Chicago resident, actress, and activist Angelica Ross. TransTech is dedicated to providing comprehensive vocational training and job placement for trans women looking to get a head start in their careers.

Shea Coul-Alé was available for pre-order starting June 3, 2020, and could be purchased on Goose Island Beer Co.'s website beginning June 8, 2020, as well as at select stores in Chicago and Philadelphia for pickup and delivery. It was also available at some of Goose Island’s properties, including the Clybourn Brewhouse, Fulton Taproom, Philly Brewhouse, and Replay in Andersonville.

Couleé, a Chicago-born drag queen and recording artist, described Shea Coul-Alé as "a beer we can all enjoy with PRIDE!". The limited-edition offering was housed in rainbow Pride cans, with each can containing 16 oz of the lemony wheat ale with dry-hopped brightness. The beer was available for purchase on the Goose Island Beer Co. website, as well as select stores in Chicago and Philadelphia for pickup and delivery.

The launch of Shea Coul-Alé was accompanied by a lineup of virtual events, including "Cooking with Couleé" and an official Goose Island takeover on the Gay Do312 website.
